Personal Interests

I enjoy playing sports and I helped organise the ESO volleyball team, where I coached weekly training sessions and captained the team in tournaments against other research institutes at the Atomiade Summer Games in Grenoble (2022) and Berlin (2023). (I also designed our rather snazzy team shirts!)

After a long week of science, there's nothing better than a fresh lungful of air in the mountains. I frequently organised "beginner-achievable" hiking trips for the students which were enjoyed by all (even if it was sometimes Type II fun!) Pictured is the beautiful Partnachklamm gorge near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Bavarian Alps. I'm looking forward to exploring the rugged Northumbrian countryside now I've moved to Newcastle!

Alongside one of the Fellows, I founded and co-directed a choir at ESO, bringing together members of all singing abilities to enjoy making music together.

Pictured is our inaugural concert, where we performed works as varied as music from Lord of the Rings, a movement from an opera by Purcell, and a traditional South African folk song.
